Patient Open Day, Feb 2011 -
After our first, very successful Patient Open Day in 2009, we were delighted to hold our second Patient Open Day on Saturday 26th February 2011 at our Centre for Healthy Sleep in Abingdon.
Untreated OSA results in disrupted sleep as the airway repeatedly narrows and collapses throughout the night which in turn leads to the related symptoms. For more information on OSA please click here.
The main treatment option for obstructive sleep apnoea involves Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy which delivers gently pressurised air throughout the night. The air pressure prevents your airway from collapsing and allows you to maintain restful sleep. The pressure is delivered from a small, portable device beside your bed via a mask worn over the nose or nose and mouth as needed.
You will only receive CPAP therapy following a recommendation by a doctor.
It is essential for patients to receive the correct education, advice and support when starting on CPAP to ensure you obtain maximum comfort, usage and control of your symptoms, allowing you to reclaim the quality of life you are used to.
You may wish your GP to refer you to an NHS sleep unit, alternatively we can offer this service and will be happy to discuss your options with you. The ResMed Centre for Healthy Sleep team of experienced clinicians will give you reliable, professional advice and care to successfully establish you on treatment, ensuring you get the best from it. We can monitor your progress and keep your doctor informed as required.
Contact us to find out more or to book a consultation at the Centre for Healthy Sleep or call 0800 917 7071.
Please note all newly diagnosed patients will require a referral from a physician to commence CPAP treatment. You can download the PDF Ref Form for your physician to sign; then call us to arrange a consultation for treatment set up.
The Centre for Healthy Sleep team provides ongoing support and treatment reviews to patients on CPAP therapy. You can contact the Centre for Healthy Sleep at anytime to discuss your treatment. Our experienced team of clinicians will be happy to support and advise you, to ensure you maintain the best possible outcomes from your treatment. If our team is unable to resolve the problem by phone, we can arrange a consultation, giving you the peace of mind that comes from receiving expert advice in person.
We also have a clinically led RealSleep customer care team offering reliable and professional advice and support regarding your CPAP treatment along with our technical department.
