Treatment

Untreated OSA results in disrupted sleep as the airway repeatedly narrows and collapses throughout the night which in turn leads to the related symptoms. For more information on OSA visit www.OSAUK.org

The main treatment option for obstructive sleep apnoea involves Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy which delivers air at required pressures throughout the night, preventing your airway from collapse, allowing you to maintain restful sleep. The pressure is delivered from a small, portable device beside your bed via a mask worn over the nose or nose and mouth as needed.

You will only receive CPAP therapy following a recommendation by a doctor.

It is essential for patients to receive the correct education, advice and support when starting on CPAP to ensure you obtain maximum comfort, usage and control of your symptoms, allowing you to reclaim the quality of life you are used to.

You may wish your GP to refer you to an NHS sleep unit, alternatively we can offer this service and will be happy to discuss your options with you.

The Centre for Healthy Sleep team of experienced clinicians will give you reliable, professional advice and care to establish you successfully on treatment, ensuring you get the best from it. We will monitor your progress and keep your doctor informed as required.

Contact us to find out more or to book a consultation at the Centre for Healthy Sleep or call 0800 917 7071.

Please note all newly diagnosed patients will require a referral from a physician to commence CPAP treatment. You can download the PDF Ref Form for your physician to sign; then call us to arrange a consultation for treatment set up.
